The First 10 Days of Mercy - Seek Allah's Forgiveness and Blessings
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Transliteration: Rabbi ighfir warham wa anta khayrur rahimeen.
Translation: "O my Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful." (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:118)
The first ten days of Ramadan are known as the Ashra of Mercy (Rahmat). It is a time to seek Allah's boundless mercy, engage in worship, and perform good deeds. As the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of mercy are opened, and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained." (Sahih al-Bukhari 1899)
1. يَا رَحْمٰنُ اغْفِرْ لِي (Ya Rahmanu, ighfir li) - "O Most Merciful, forgive me."
2. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي (Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni) - "O Allah, You are forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me."
The first Ashra of Ramadan is a time to seek Allah’s mercy. Recite the dua رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ regularly and perform good deeds to receive Allah’s boundless blessings. May Allah accept our prayers. Ameen!
